When you hear the term “veteran” most people immediately think of those who have served in the military. While that is true, the word veteran also identifies those who have served our Nation as law enforcement and fire and rescue professionals. Collectively, these groups of heroes ensure our country is safeguarded both here at home and abroad. There is a true sense of comradery when you put military veterans and first responders in the same room…together, they become America’s 9-1-1 Force!
Despite the sacrifices of America’s 9-1-1 Force, this special group of citizens aren’t looking for special treatment or a hand-out…instead, they are looking for a “hand-up” – they want to be a part of their community, and continue to lead productive lives. There is not a shortage of support in this country for our veterans, first responders and their families; the issue has always been “how do we connect” those in need, to those who can provide the needed support?
From bringing resources and veterans together through our Resource Summit Program, to helping those transitioning from the streets into permanent housing through our Fresh Start Program…we are working diligently at the grass-roots level with organizations all across the country to help those we serve get the support they need to get their lives “back on track.”
Our programs are administered through our “Drive 4 Vets” Community Outreach Programs, and aren’t geared for only a select few – we cater to ALL veterans…no matter what public service uniform they wear. By working together, we have the capability to address the issues facing their lives… one-on-one! We may not be able to change laws that could better address concerns for our future veterans or first responders; but today, we can change lives, and increase awareness all across the Nation.
Thank you to General Peter Pace and U.S. Veterans Magazine for supporting Connect America.
Vets on Track Foundation had their 1st Annual Connect America on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Our gala brought together individual supporters, corporate partners, distinguished veterans, key volunteers, guest of honor, Morgan Murphy, Carla Babb and hip-hop recording artist, B Taylor. The event was about connecting the America people though food, music and stories. We celebrated our country, our communities, first responders and our veterans. We also recognized a few of America’s 9-1-1 Force by awarding them our Vets on Track “Connect America Community Outreach Award.”
